Marketing Cheat Sheet for Wedding Pros

When it comes to marketing your wedding business, let’s be real—it’s usually an afterthought. Because, after plowing through emails to make sure everything that needs to happen does, fielding phone calls and text messages from your couples, and getting pulled away from what you were working on when the florist for this weekend’s wedding calls to tell you part of her flower order didn’t arrive, who has the bandwidth to even think about the future? There is way too much going on in the now!

But let’s be real (again)—there is a part of you that knows you’ve gotten away without a marketing strategy for too long. That you’re really lucky to have gotten your business off the ground and booked clients who came to you from referrals. Well, it’s time to stop relying on luck—your business is too grown up for that.

When clients reach out to me wanting a custom marketing strategy for their business, it’s not because they are incapable to creating it themselves; rather, it’s because they don’t know where to start. And I’m going to take a wild guess and assume this is you too. So, whether you’ve hit my marketing services page a few times or are eyeing the marketing strategy template in the shop and (for whatever reason) just aren’t ready to click add to cart or inquire, I don’t want to leave you hanging—here is a marketing cheat sheet for you to start with. It’s a skeleton of what I’d put together if you hired me to spend 2 full days just thinking about how you should market your business but it’s a way for you to get started! Simply copy and paste what you see below into a word doc to put it to use.

Blogging

Blogging isn’t dead and is a foundational piece to any digital marketing or SEO strategy. Try and shoot for 2 blogs a month but it’s totally fine to start with whatever pace you can actually commit to.

  • (1) Portfolio piece per month

  • (1) Educational piece per month

Social media

You’re probably on social media a lot but just posting something that looks pretty in your grid. Get more strategic but outlining an actual approach. My recommendation is to try to be consistent with 3 Instagram posts and stories a week, 1 reel or TikTok video a month, and 1 Facebook post a week.

What are your content buckets (or themes)? List them out

  • One

  • Two

  • Three

  • Four

How often will you share? Pick a pace

  • Instagram posts

  • Instagram stories

  • Instagram Reels

  • Instagram lives

  • Facebook posts

  • TikTok

What hashtags should you use? (Pssst…you can look at your insights to see which ones are actually helping couples find you.)

Pinterest

Building backlinks to your website is great for SEO and Pinterest helps you do that. Plus, it’s a search engine and can be an effective “top of funnel” tactic when used properly. My recommendation is to try and pin 5 new pins (of your content) weekly.

What boards should you create? List them out

  • One

  • Two

  • Three

  • Four

How often are you going to pin? Pick a pace

  • Single image pins

  • Video pins

  • Idea pins

Advertising

You’ve got to spend money to make money! Figure out the places your potential clients are doing their wedding research and create a listing. My recommendation is to have free listings on any marketplace qualified leads might come from and paid listings on the sites your ideal clients visit.

  • What free listings should you take advantage of?

  • What paid listings should you set up?

Feel like this cheat sheet is helpful? Then it’s time to pick up my marketing strategy template! It’s way more in-depth and comes with printable docs and a helpful video to get you on your merry marketing way.
